Home Away from Home Respite Program
The Home Away from Home Respite Program was established in 2016 as an AmeriCorps VISTA project at SUNY Geneseo in response to a community need for expanded respite services in Livingston County.
The program supports both family caregivers and their loved ones experiencing mild to moderate memory loss or cognitive conditions. Participants engage in structured, social activities in a safe environment outside the home, allowing caregivers time for self-care.

The program is staffed by a Respite Coordinator, student volunteers, and older adult volunteers.
Fr. William Gordinier Community Services Award
Fr. William Gordinier Community Services Award
Established in 2017, the Fr. William Gordinier Community Services Award honors the life and legacy of Fr. Bill Gordinier, a beloved pastor known for his compassion, generosity, and dedication to serving others.
The award was made possible through a generous anonymous donation from a former seminary classmate, followed by the creation of a local committee to carry forward this vision.
About Fr. Bill
Fr. Bill served many communities across the Diocese of Rochester, most notably at St. Mary’s Church in Geneseo. He is remembered for:

Reducing Transportation Barriers Partnership
In 2023, Livingston County Cares partnered with the Livingston County Planning Department to address transportation challenges faced by low-income residents.

A collaborative program was developed to fund transportation for trips not covered by traditional programs.
