Volunteers will engage in recovery work supporting individuals and families impacted by Hurricane Maria and Hurricane Fiona. The host agency, Techos Pa’ MI Gente, will provide housing in two-person apartments and breakfast and lunch. Dinners will be included at specific local restaurants. The work will be hands-on and will focus on replacing roofs on one-story homes in the San Juan area of Puerto Rico. Volunteers will work under the supervision of the host agency and Dan Martin, the trips leader who participated in three Livingston County service trips as a student and three as an alum and trip leader to Puerto Rico.
Trip participants will fly out of Rochester, NY, or another airport if needed, on Sunday, June 2 and land in San Juan Puerto Rico. The return trip home will be on Saturday, June 8. The accommodations are in the city near the airport and transportation will be provided by the host agency throughout the week. Volunteers are required to provide proof of health insurance and accident insurance and a t-shirt is provided for each participant and included in the trip fees.
